Cherice Harrsion-Nelson, co-founder with her mother Herreast of the Mardi Gras Indian Hall of Fame and Big Queen of the Guardians of the Flame tribe, painted and adorned this 36"-long Giant Stick from ProMark to honor one of New Orleans' great drummers, Smokey Johnson. Smokey was a friend of Ms. Harrison's family, her father Donald Sr. and her brother the great musician Donald Jr. both Big Chiefs. Smokey in Detroit circa 1862 became a progenitor of the "Motown Sound." Cherice gave to SUFC her tribute this seminal munsician, along with a companion Giant Stick distnguished by signatures of Smokey's friends and admirers.
